sorry it's been so long since my last update...school's been quite hectic this semester. here's a few of my works: two oils and a digital painting.

not the best shots of the paintings, but all i have at the moment. i've been working a lot in pastel this semester in figure, so i might upload some of the portraits and master copies i've done.

the school year's almost up now, but there's still a lot of work to do! but if i can just make it through this week and the next, i get to go to disney world. c:

for concept, our latest project has been digitally illustrating one of our characters from the first project. so remember my little leafy girl character from earlier in the semester?

here she is again! with a face! and a snail! :Ddone in Corel Painter X.
i'll be doing another illustration like this (probably with a different character) for the next project in that class, too.

here's the third part of the first assignment from Concept/Character/Environment. it consisted of force fitting two things into one creature.

the first was an animal and an insect. i got marmoset and harlequin cabbage bug. i like this character, but i really need to redraw that pose, it got a bit stiff. anyway, i would totally have this creepy little guy as a pet. :)the second was an animal and a vehicle, and i got wolf and chopper (the motorcycle, not a helicopter). this gave me an insane amount of trouble because i basically can't draw mechanical things to save my life, but i'm fairly pleased with the end result.

actually, this is old news, but i'd thought i'd share it with you nonetheless. a couple weeks back i made....STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE! and it was delicious. although it's not really my usual art, it's still pretty mouthwatering, i think.mmmmm....the moral of the story is that i should make this more often.

today i have for you something completely different! well...not so much, really. it's nina's face. again. (i draw her a lot)

for media we did paper cut-out portraits of classmates. the finished piece!what was left of the tracing paper drawing when i was done with it!and another cut-out of nina based on a drawing from my figure sketchbook. i was bored and all i had was lined paper so....this is the result. hooray?

finally got around to scanning some thiiiings. but i feel like i should space out updates...

for starters, here's some of the stuff from my (current) sketchbook.

this one's from the very beginning of summer. it says the date and time and everything up there! yes, i was drawing my leg in chruch.this next one was drawn soon after that. anyway, just a fun, creepy thing? the beginning of my fonting. XD

so this is all part of our first project in Concept/Character/Environment, which basically involves creating characters.

the first part:
to create a bunch of silhouettes and doodles and then refine them into different characters....basically.

i like the poofy girl, but i wanna try more designs for her because that one's a bit stiff?

the second part:
to find forms and faces in textures in photographs and refine them into fully rendered characters.

ehhh....i like these better. the tiny leaf girl is best friends with the pointy guy. C:

the third part:
working on it! it'll consist of forcefitting two things into one creature. the first character will be an animal and an insect (marmoset and harlequin cabbage bug for me); the second is an animal and a vehicle (i got a wolf and a chopper).
....we'll see how this turns out.

to create a full-length, self-portrait with at least 1 rendered shape, 1 flat shape, and 1 patterned shape.

not quite exactly like meeee, but i think those are purty colors and that's all i care about right now. P: nina took the reference photo and um....yes, i have a wonderful red trench coat. mayhaps i will dress as carmen san diego at some point? mmmmmmm....

for some reason, i'm feeling especially guilty about never updating this blog enough! so here are some of the unfinished digital paintings i did over the summer.

i really wanna finish that pink and yellow one, but i think i wanna take it in a completely different direction. oh well, at least you can tell i've been playing with color.

anyway, i'm off to do some oil painting. like...IRL oil painting, not just the Painter X kind of oil painting. it's much messier. XP

so i've finally taken a few pictures of my figure stuff, as well as my final project from intro to illustration.

in which i wake up at a decent hour

that's right, folks, i woke up before noon today! of course, that's not counting the nap i took right around 10 am when i started feeling the lack of extra sleep... STILL. i woke up at 6:37, built up the courage to open my blinds, and found that the sunrise was breathtaking. so i argued with myself for even longer about painting what i saw. well, i won/lost that argument, and this is the result:

oh...soo....also, i still haven't taken pictures of my artwork from this year yet....but i will! and upload them....or at least, the better ones.

and now...for my first trick: i will take lots of money, invest it in a very expensive art school, and hopefully get some art out of it!

here's some stuff i've done for school this year...

final drawing project from last semester: showing an object in many phases of motion...i like phones.
charcoal on newsprint.

next up are the Van Wezel projects for my color class:

this one was based on a performance by the National Acrobats of China. and they were amazing. i wanted to try a different style than my usual stuff...
photoshop!

this is based on Swan Lake. i love ballet... didn't like so much how this came out, though...

lastly, some stuff from me playing around in Corel Painter X:
first try. just a doodle, but i like green and pink, i guess...

third try. what happened to the second? didn't like it. XP

...i seem to like green, yes?

soo, i'm thinking that i love painter and will probably be using it all summer. if i'm not too lazy, once i get home next week i might actually get pics of my figure work from this semester and some of my better stuff from last semester. :D
